Ranchi, Dec.5: Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Ranchi today concluded its 11-day annual sports meet "Spardha 2K23".

The decisive match of the event featured an adrenaline-charged football competition between the defending champion of last year's football tournament, Principal XI and the first-year students of B.Sc. H&HA. The match concluded with a penalty shootout, securing victory for Principal XI.
Captain of his football team, Principal Dr. Bhupesh Kumar who played the role of Goalkeeper also helped the team to secure the win with a 4-2 score against the opponent 1st year student team. Sanjay Oraon was awarded as the player of the tournament in Football while Bhupesh Kumar and Sanjay Kumar jointly shared the prestigious overall champion award for an exemplary display of performance during the sports festival.
The closing ceremony commenced with a vibrant presentation of Ganesh Vandana and a performance showcasing tribal dance, celebrating the art and culture of Jharkhand by the students of IHM Ranchi. Chief Guest of the event, Ram Singh, praised IHM Ranchi for its successful organization of the sports festival, commending the relentless efforts and leadership of Principal Bhupesh Kumar and the entire team of the institute.
Bhupesh Kumar, in his address, emphasized the importance of maintaining an open mind, continuous learning, and adapting perspectives. He encouraged students to prioritize both physical and mental well-being, always striving to learn something new wherever they go. He also emphasized that IHM Ranchi looks forward to achieving new milestones in the field of education, collaborating with DPS School, Ranchi, in the future.
The awards ceremony recognized outstanding performances in various sports, including chess, table tennis, badminton, athletics, discuss throw, and shotput. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Shama Baa, Lecturer, IHM Ranchi expressing gratitude towards the guests, staff, sports committee and the students for the successful organization of sports meet. The Spardha 2K23 sports festival showcased exemplary talent and sportsmanship, leaving all participants with a sense of accomplishment.
The details of winners across various categories of events organized during the Spardha 2k23 includes the Anurag from 1st year who became the best batsman of the tournament and also bagged the man of the match for cricket along with Mr. Shubham from craft course whereas Mr. Fardeen Akhtar bestowed with the best bowler award, the decisive match of the volleyball tournament was played between Principal's XI and B.Sc. Second Year, in which in a 5-set match, the B.Sc. Second Year team emerged victorious by winning the set 3-1.
The decisive match of boys' chess was played between Mr. Abhishek Rathi and MD Nayum in which Abhishek was the winner with gold medal and MD Nayum was the silver medalist, the decisive match of girls' chess was played between Ms. Kumari Aditi the winner of gold medal and Ms. Aaradhya Jena with silver medal. declared as the runner up. The final match of table tennis was played between Ms. Neeraj Singh and Praful Tigga, in which Neeraj Kumar Singh was declared the winner by 2-0.
In the badminton doubles boys' finals match, Rehan Ali and Nabiladan were the winners and Akash Kumar and Tej Pratap Singh Deo were the runners-up while in the girls' final match for Badminton doubles, Sadagi and Khushi were the winners and Muskaan and Aimen were the runners-up. In the javelin throw match organized for girls, Ms. Sonali Kongari was awarded with gold medal for 15 meter throw, Ms. Aakriti Tirkey was awarded with silver medal for 12.6 meter throw and Ms. Sadagi was awarded bronze medal.
In the discuss throw match, Ms. Nitin Sanga got the gold medal with a throw of 12.75 meters, Ms. Pooja Tigga got the silver medal with a throw of 12.35 meters and Ms. Sonali Kongari got the bronze medal with a throw of 11.35 meters. In the shot put match, Ms. Nitin Sanga got the gold medal with a throw of 5.90 meters, Ms. Sonali Kongari got the silver medal with a throw of 5.80 meters and Ms. Pooja Tigga got the bronze medal with a throw of 5.50 meters. In the Tug of War match, the Senior XI team was the winner in the event organized for girls, while the Senior XI team was the winner in the event organized for boys.
