In keeping with the vision and mission of Amity University Jharkhand’s Founder President & Chancellor, the SC/ST Committee and the Student Welfare Department, Amity University Jharkhand organized an Online Invited Talk on World Indigenous Day on 9th August 2023.
Dr. Ashok K. Srivastava, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand conveyed his greetings on this occasion.
The objective of celebrating World Indigenous Day was to raise awareness, promote understanding and honor the cultures, contributions, and rights of the Indigenous peoples around the world, with special reference to Jharkhand.
This event provided an opportunity to engage with Indigenous communities, their histories, traditions and contemporary issues, while fostering a sense of respect, inclusivity, and cultural appreciation within the University community.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Ambrish Gautam, Assistant Professor, Amity School of Business, Amity University Jharkhand, the key speaker of the event, discussed the human rights related to the Jharkhand tribes, the origin of some of the regional language words mentioned in the census, issues concerning the tribes and women's rights pertaining to these indigenous communities.
The event ended with a vote of thanks expressed by Dr. Shovona Choudhury, Associate Professor and Asst. Dean, Student Welfare, and Head of Institute, Arts & Commerce, Amity University Jharkhand.
